I was a little disappointed to notice the lack of comments over the past year or so.
Recently a friend informed me she tried to comment and was blocked.
I had not checked my blog settings for years, as I didn't see a need to change them. I was surprised to find Google had changed my settings without my knowledge and comments were now restricted.
I have changed them back. I welcome comments from anyone, anonymous or named. My only restriction is to moderate them before publishing.

You seem to know a lot about diabetes and I want to ask; I did everything but my a1c is 6.0 last 12 months. My HDL=110, LDL=90, TG 50. I'm 5'5" and 118 lb, work out 5 days a week. I followed Dr. Barnard's diet (cut oil, be vegan, low GI) but no impact on my BG. Does it mean that my issue is not insuline registance but that I don't produce enough amount of insuline?

ReplyDeleteSatoko Asai, I'm not a fan of the Barnard method. However, with an A1c of 6% it does not appear to be doing you any harm. Your A1c also suggests you are producing adequate insulin at the moment.
ReplyDeleteI am a 63 year old female who had a medical background as a registered nurse. I also have a masters in public health. I was diagnosed as T2D a few months ago. Despite my experience in the medical realm, I was having trouble with the typical diabetic diet suggestions, especially in the AM. I would feel bad and shaky. I have learned so much from your blog and have gone back to read most of it over the past few weeks. Thank you for all of the information and practical suggestions you have provided. I now avoid carbohydrates until after lunch and am doing so much better. Also, I had gained weight over the last few years, and I find that the metformin 500 mg twice a day has caused the almost constant hunger to go away. I get full now and don't have the strong urge to overeat. I am gradually losing weight since starting this medication and altering my food selections. Thanks again, and I plan to keep up with your blog.
